In 2014 and 2015, Portsmouth Public Library hosted a How-To Festival. An all-day, FREE event that covered the entire library, each year the festival offered over 35 different workshops with presenters from many community organizations and local businesses.
Visitors learned how to speak Spanish, play chess, build DIY microscopes and LED reading lights, open a beehive, perform the dance from Thriller, have a difficult conversation, write a song, kick a field goal, and so much more!

They took a year off to celebrate the library building’s 10th anniversary, but in 2017 they’re BACK with some new acts. This year, they’ll be holding the entire festival outdoors in the field between the library and middle school (rain location: Connie Bean Center), with booths, live demonstrations and more!
